We begin with the guiding belief that all students can be successful and achieve at high levels. Students in all classrooms and grade levels are engaged in rigorous work. Differentiated instruction to meet student needs, well-managed, caring classroom routines, and effective use of instructional time are evident as you tour the school building.
The faculty and administration are involved in ongoing reflection and professional development and consistently demonstrate a willingness to improve and refine practice. Our staff and faculty are highly collaborative and model respect, collegiality, and care in all that they do.
We understand that strong relationships between families and school are critical to ensuring student success and we welcome parent participation in all forms. We have a School Planning and Management Team with parent representation and an active PTA as well.
Our student's success is a responsibility that is shared between all stakeholders: community members, families, teachers and school leaders. Through ongoing collaboration, open channels of communication, and an enduring commitment to excellence and continuous improvement, we will achieve great things.

Six to Six Assistant Principal Emma Balter
“She comes to us with a wealth of teaching experience and tremendous leadership abilities,” Six to Six Principal Anna Nelmes-Stoughton said. “She will bring a fresh perspective to our work as we continue our mission of partnering with families and communities to ensure all children grow into thoughtful, productive committed citizens."
Ms. Balter earned a Bachelors in Secondary Education and Teaching from the University of Connecticut and a Masters in Education from Sacred Heart University.
“I am a 30-year veteran of education and know that it truly is the best field in the world,” she said. “I have spent time as a classroom teacher, a team leader, a department chair, and a member of our district leadership team. I find that no matter where I am, I am able to meet the most wonderful people, from principals to administrative assistants, to teachers. Of course - I know that the most precious commodity we have is our students and their families.”

As one of the administrators at Six to Six, my goal is to ignite a love of learning in every student. As a community we strive to foster meaningful relationships and build a safe, supportive environment that develops life-long learners who care and think deeply about their world.
In our school, students have access to an engaging and differentiated instructional program. Our staff collaborates to ensure all children can successfully meet the expectations of the curriculum and can achieve to their fullest potential. We must prepare each student not simply with the basic skills they need to be successful, productive citizens, but we must also spark a true thirst for knowledge in their minds. With a solid foundation built during students’ years at Six to Six, it is our greatest hope that this spark will burn throughout their lifetime.
We also strive to foster deep and caring relationships with our students, their families and our greater community. I make it a point to visit all classrooms every week, am a consistent part of greeting families during arrival and dismissal, and enjoy truly getting to know each student. With a focus on social emotional learning, we are able to cultivate the positive school climate we all have the fortunate opportunity to share.
Please contact me anytime to chat about school, your student(s) or just to say hello. My door is always open.
