Admission to RCA
Admission to the Regional Center for the Arts is open to Fairfield County high schools students with an interest in the performing arts. RCA is a public school of choice for families in Bridgeport, Darien, Easton/Region #9, Fairfield, Greenwich, Monroe, New Canaan, Norwalk, Redding, Ridgefield, Shelton, Stamford, Stratford, Trumbull, Weston, Westport, and Wilton. We also accept students from school outside of our region. RCA students earn academic credits for our program. Grades are sent to the home high school quarterly.
Open houses are held in November and February for students interested in attending RCA the following school year. Visitors can meet current RCA students and staff, and tour the building. You may also schedule appointments to meet with the principal and discuss RCA as an option for your student. We encourage families of prospective students to attend our performances. (Click for the calendar page).
Applications for the 2018-19 were due March 2. As part of the admission process we ask students to participate in a placement audition for us to better understand her or his experience as a performer. Placement auditions for next school year have been held and students who complete the application process will be informed of their acceptance by letter in May.
A school district may cap its student enrollment at RCA. If our enrollment from a district exceeds the cap, we conduct a lottery of prospective students, and those who are not offered a seat will be placed on a waiting list. If our overall potential enrollment exceeds our program capacity, we will conduct a lottery in that case as well.
