College students give lessons in dental hygiene

A group of dental hygienist students who will graduate from the University of New Haven this spring were kind enough to spend some of their valuable time with students in the Developmental Learning Center (DLC) program at C.E.S. on Friday, March 6, 2020.

The college students visited several classrooms during the day and talked to students about the importance of keeping their teeth and mouth healthy. They used stuffed animals to demonstrate proper brushing, oversized models of teeth to show them how to floss, and talked to them about how foods like sugar can cause problems for teeth without regular brushing.

A portion of the presentation that captivated DLC students was the board that showed them the surprisingly large amount of sugar in some of their favorite foods and drinks.

Thanks to the UNH students for providing such a useful learning opportunity to our students!
