Realizing the increasing need for mental health supports for children, particularly in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, Connecticut passed new legislation on July 1st, 2022. This legislation directed the six Regional Education Service Centers (RESCs) in the state to hire a Regional Trauma Coordinator with the goal of creating a program that helps schools understand and support students who have experienced trauma. This program will be available to all public school districts in the state beginning with the 2023-2024 school year.
In order to ensure the program's effectiveness, the Regional Trauma Coordinators have designed a survey specifically for parents and caregivers. This survey seeks your opinions regarding how the school takes care of your child's overall well-being. This includes aspects such as the school environment, parental involvement, and the child's mental and physical health. The valuable insights shared will contribute to development of the program.
