Admission to RCA
Admission to the Regional Center for the Arts is open to Fairfield County high schools students with an interest in the performing arts. RCA is a public school of choice for families in Bridgeport, Darien, Easton/Region #9, Fairfield, Greenwich, Monroe, New Canaan, Norwalk, Ridgefield, Shelton, Stamford, Stratford, Trumbull, Weston, Westport, and Wilton. We also accept students from school outside of our region.
RCA students earn academic credits for our program. Grades are sent to the home high school quarterly.
We will host two Open Houses for students and their families considering RCA for the 2017-18 school year. The first will be on Thursday November 10th and the second on Thursday February 16th. Open houses are between 7:00 and 8:30 PM. During the Open House students give tours of the building and staff are on hand to answer questions.
You may meet with the principal to discuss RCA as an option for your student. Please call our office (203 365 8857) to schedule an appointment.
We also encourage the families of prospective students to attend any of our performances (see calendar page).
The 2017-18 application is now online! Click here to apply to RCA. All applications are due by Friday, March 3, 2017.
Prospective students will also be asked to participate in a placement audtion on one of two Saturdays in March (see application form for details).
Students will be informed of their acceptance by letter in late May, and families will have a week to notify us if their student will be enrolling in RCA.
All school districts cap their student enrollment at RCA. In most cases our potential enrollment from a district exceeds the cap. In that case we conduct a lottery of prospective students, and those who are not offered a seat will be placed on a waiting list. If our overall potential enrollment exceeds our program capacity, we will conduct a lottery in that case as well.
