Welcome to the Developmental Learning Center!
DLC is designed to facilitate the transition from school to adult life. By using a functional curriculum, the activities in this program focus on supporting and encouraging students to become as independent as possible in domestic, community and vocational settings.
The development of personal management skills such as hygiene, grooming, and domestic living skills are fundamental to successful independence in these environments and are an integral part of the DLC program. DLC also focuses on the development of appropriate social skills, behaviors and communication skills in all activities.
Our class sizes are small, and range in staff to student ratio from 1:1 to 3:7. Classes have no more than seven students, and are staffed by a certified teacher, educational instructor and at least one instructional aide.
DLC students receive individualized programming to meet their specific developmental needs. The school day is highly structured, predictable and highly focused on communication, independence and community integration.
